How to join

You can join the Fund as soon as you start working for Nestlé or you can wait to be auto-enrolled on your 91st day of employment.

Who can join the Fund?

You can join the Fund if:

  • Your employment contract says you can - we usually make it a condition of your employment.
  • You're age 16 or over.
  • You're not within one month of your state pension age.

Join straight away and start planning for your future today.

You can join DC Core at any time by filling out a New Member Option Form and returning it to Nestlé Pensions.

Or if you want to start by saving a little less each month, you can ask to join DC Start by filling in an Opt-In Form and returning it to Nestlé Pensions.

You also need to tell us who your loved ones are by filling out a Nomination Form.

If you do nothing, you'll be contractually enrolled into DC Start on the 91st day of your employment. For more information see Automatic enrolment.

Automatic enrolment

If you are new to Nestlé and don't join the Fund during your first 90 days of employment, we will enrol you into DC Start on your 91st day of employment under the terms of your contract of employment.

Here is a reminder of the amount that you and Nestlé pay in.

If you choose to join the Fund during your first 90 days, you will also be ‘contractually enrolled' into the Fund. It's called this as it's one of the conditions of your contract when you join Nestlé.

Re-enrolment after opting out

If you joined or were enrolled into the Fund previously and chose to opt out, you may be enrolled into the Fund again in the future. This depends on your circumstances.

Under UK law, employers must re-enrol employees who have opted out of pension saving every three years. In some cases, it could be sooner than three years. For example, if you are close to the automatic enrolment criteria set out by the Government (almost 22 or earning close to £10,000) then we'll monitor your circumstances every month. If you meet the criteria for automatic enrolment in the future, we have to enrol you into the Fund by law. If this happens, we will write to you with all the information you need, including the date you will be enrolled.

Never been a member

If you were already an employee before 1 May 2013, but you weren't automatically enrolled on 1 August 2013 because you were under 22 or earning under £10,000 and have still not joined the Fund, we will monitor your circumstances every month. If your circumstances change so that this is no longer the case in the future, we will have to enrol you into the Fund. If this happens, we will write to you with all the information you need, including the date you will be enrolled.

In all cases, if you are enrolled into the Fund, you will be able to opt out if you decide that you do not want to save for your retirement.

Will I be re-enrolled?

If you are not a member of the Fund and meet the following criteria when we next have to assess you for automatic enrolment, you will be automatically enrolled into DC Start. Both you and Nestlé will contribute to DC Start on your behalf every month.

  • You work or usually work in the UK
  • You are between age 22 and state pension age and earning more than £10,000 a year (£833 a month) in 2018/19
